The Association of Florida Colleges is proud to recognize the outstanding work happening at college campuses around the state. These individuals and groups exemplify the dedication and excellence that strengthen Florida’s college system every day.
Chapter and Region Recognition
Tallahassee State College was named Chapter of the Year after far exceeding their membership recruitment goal and orchestrating numerous community service events throughout the year. Silver level chapters included Eastern Florida State College, Daytona State College, and Palm Beach State College. Gold level recognition went to Santa Fe College, Miami Dade College, and South Florida State College. Platinum chapters—representing the highest tier of excellence—were Tallahassee State College, College of Central Florida, and Northwest Florida State College.
Region III earned Region of the Year honors for their strong conference attendance and active participation in webinars and AFC events.
Commission Excellence
The Technology Commission was named 2025 Commission of the Year, earning 740 points through exceptional programming and engagement. Led by Dr. Belkis Cabrera, the commission hosts monthly meetings that tackle critical issues including AI usage in the classroom and the future of technology in higher education.
Individual Honors
AFC awarded Honorary Life membership—one of the association’s highest honors—to Rita Brown (Tallahassee State College), Dr. Cynthia Moody (College of Central Florida), Patricia McGee (Pasco Hernando State College), Chief Ryan Woods (Santa Fe College), and Matt Wetzel (Florida State College at Jacksonville).
Distinguished Service Awards recognized professionals who consistently answer the call to action: Jessie Clayton (Tallahassee State College), April Leake (Northwest Florida State College), Dr. Eddie Williams (Pasco Hernando State College), Dr. Germany Dixon (Palm Beach State College), and Gabi Booth (Daytona State College).
The association also congratulated Marjorie McGee and Krystle Skelly from College of Central Florida as graduates of the Certified College Professional Program.
