About the Speaker

Willie Barnes Jr. is the author of The Vision Engine: A Movement to Engineer a Life of Purpose, Passion, and Authority and the founder of The Vision Engine LLC, a student persistence and vision-mapping movement whose mission is to empower learners to show up with purpose, persist through adversity, and engineer the life they were created to live.

Willie’s story began in a hotel room — his family, five kids, and everything they owned between a trunk and a storage unit. Each morning, he jogged to shake off the nerves, journaled, practiced gratitude, and built a vision. That process, before it had a name, became The Vision Engine. It carried him from grad school dropout to MBA, doctoral learner in Organizational Leadership, and founder of a movement now reaching the Florida College System.

As someone who stopped out of school himself, Willie knows that students don’t leave because they’re incapable. They leave because they lose their why. The Vision Engine gives them their why back — and equips the professionals who serve them with the same clarity.
